Bregal Unternehmerkapital is the new majority shareholder of one of Europe’s biggest B2B online printers

Onlineprinters Holding GmbH has chosen Bregal Unternehmerkapital as partner for the company’s next phase of growth. Following a swift due diligence and subsequent signing at the beginning of September, Bregal completed the transaction and became the new majority shareholder of Onlineprinters at the beginning of October. As part of the deal, Bregal acquired all shares previously held by TA Associates Management LP and a portion of the shares owned by the founder, Walter Meyer. As part of the transaction, Walter Meyer resigned from the management board of the company and transitioned to the newly created Advisory Board. He remains a shareholder in the company.

In addition to Bregal’s financial strength and expeditious conclusion of the due diligence, its expertise when it comes to supporting the development of medium-sized companies played a pivotal role in the partnership between Onlineprinters and Bregal. As founder and entrepreneur, Walter Meyer was impressed by Bregal Unternehmerkapital’s cooperative approach in interactions with himself and the management team. Itself part of a family company rich in tradition, Bregal works with its portfolio companies with a spirit of partnership, a focus on entrepreneurial values, and the long-term in mind.

Based in Neustadt an der Aisch, Onlineprinters is one of the leading B2B online printing companies in Europe and has shaped the market for printed advertising material in recent years. The company, founded 12 years ago by Walter Meyer, is one of the first movers into online printing. In Germany, it operates under the brand diedruckerei.de and as Onlineprinters in a further 30 countries. Last year, over 600 employees produced 2.1 billion printed products – from traditional flyers to entire trade fair stands. The main pillars of the company’s success are online sales, its modern fully-integrated production processes from order to dispatch and ganged printing, which increases speed in production while saving significant resources. Working jointly with Bregal, the company now plans to make further investments into growth in order to cement and expand its leading position as a European market leader in B2B online printing.

We look forward to working together with Walter Meyer, the management team and all staff at Onlineprinters. It is an opportunity to tap into a deep market with unrealized potential and further consolidate the already strong position of the company on a long-term and sustainable basis.
