medavis and Digithurst, two leading radiology software providers, join forces

Following Bregal Unternehmerkapital's (“BU”) majority investment in Karlsruhe-based medavis GmbH last year, the company has made its next strategic step: medavis and Digithurst from Büchenbach, two leading providers in the software market for radiologists, are joining forces to form a strong group. Together, the two companies will bundle and expand their current software offerings for radiologists, to provide their customers with significant added value.

The new group, which is uniquely positioned in the industry and supported by BU, combines a team with many years of experience that is firmly anchored in the market. medavis brings 26 years of expertise in developing tailored, modular, and scalable software for hospital chains, radiology networks, radiology practices, and clinics, and offers radiologists, referring physicians, and patients solutions for location-independent networking. Digithurst is a successful provider of radiology information systems (“RIS”) and picture archiving and communication systems (“PACS”) in the German market and additionally addresses complementary customer groups.

For the Group's customers, the cooperation will mean a broader product offering in the future and even greater innovative strength through the bundling of the two companies' many years of expertise. While the existing eRIS and medavis RIS product ranges are to be continued and further developed, the new group is simultaneously focusing on launching new, innovative, and sustainable solutions for the interconnected radiology of the future. This means customers will have the best of existing products and sustainable innovation from two market leaders combined.

Elmar Kußmaul and Jörg Dittrich, the two founders of medavis, said: "By combining two companies that are so experienced and anchored in the market, we can drive digitalization in radiology even more strongly and agilely. Our common goal is to grow sustainably nationally and internationally through innovations for our customers."

Rainer Kassan, Digithurst’s founder, added: "I am delighted that Digithurst will continue its success story in the new cooperation. Digital networking is at the top of the agenda for success for our customers, and combining forces will provide the optimal support in this regard. We are looking forward to working together and to be contributing our many years of experience as well as our ‘Mittelstand’ DNA to the joint future. "
